The casino

River Rock runs the biggest casino floor in the province — a bright, spacious riverside room with a deep spread of table games, a busy poker room and a huge bank of slots. It is lively without tipping into chaos, and the standard of the room and the dealing is high.

High-limit areas and a full events calendar give it the feel of a destination floor rather than a local one, and the setting on the Fraser adds light and space you rarely get in a big casino.

The rooms

The on-site hotel holds around 200 contemporary rooms and suites with river or resort views, comfortable and genuinely quiet given how close they sit to the gaming.

It is a short, covered walk from your room to the tables, the spa and the theatre, so the whole resort works without ever going outside — exactly what you want before an early flight.

Dining & extras

Dining leans on some strong Asian restaurants alongside a buffet and casual spots, and there is a spa, a show theatre and a small marina on the river.

Between the food, a show and the waterfront, there is enough on the property to fill an evening or two without leaving — a complete resort, not just a hotel over a casino.

Location & value

River Rock sits in Richmond, minutes from YVR and a quick Canada Line ride from downtown Vancouver, which makes it almost unbeatable for a stopover or a pre-flight night.

For a low-hassle city weekend with a casino attached, the package — location, scale and quality — is strong value, and it is the first name we reach for near Vancouver.
